This is a technique when you swap the demo discs. There are some types of the swapping technique:
Background (COVDISC.VLC) Swapping - Since almost all demo discs have their own background files, you can swap them by putting an another demo that runs on the same interface engine. To do this, you have to:
- Boot up a demo disc of yours
- Wait for the interface to load
- Put an another disc
- Wait for the other disc to load
- Press Select to reset the interface
You can also do this on an emulator if you have a couple of disc images; instead of changing a disc, you can change an image file of it depending on what emulator you use. Also, don't press X, because you may get soft-locked or you may freeze the interface with stuttering BGM (in case of demos using different engines, e.g. Euro Demo 14, Power Source, Registered Users Demo 01, PsOne demos, etc.).
Regional Swapping - This is a situation when you switch a demo disc from one region to another. For example, if you own both the UK and the German versions of a demo with the same release date (that contain most of the same games released, (e.g. UK#47 and GER07/99), you can actually swap them. You have to:
- Boot up a demo disc of your region
- Wait for the interface to load
- Put a disc from the other region
- Wait for the other disc to load
- Load up a demo that is in the other region's equivalent
- Exit the game immediately (you can play/watch it (rolling demo) if you want)
- Wait for the other interface to load
You can also do this on an emulator of your choice.
Issue Swapping - This is a situation when you swap a disc with an another disc that has got some of the same games, e.g. Euro Demo 95 to Euro Demo 100 (Driver & Driver 2). It is similar to the Regional Swapping. To do this, you have to:
- Boot up a demo disc of yours
- Wait for the interface to load
- Put a disc from the past/future issue
- Wait for the other disc to load
- Load up a demo that is in the other issue
- Exit the game immediately (you can play/watch it (rolling demo) if you want)
- Wait for the other interface to load
You can also do this on an emulator of your choice.
*Regional and Issue Swapping doesn't work for videos however, as those will not load and will get you soft-locked.
